70 ordinary shares of 5/- each in this tar manufacturing company. Green and white certificate with ornate
green border. Issued to Thomas George Lund of Law Society
Offices, Bell Yard, London WC2. Thomas Lund was the Secretary of
the Law Society and was knighted in 1958. Original signatures of
Frederick Charles Rands, director and the company secretary. The company was founded as
a private company in June 1925 to manufacture asphalt, tar and bitumous dressings for road surfaces. It also held patents for a
number of skid-proof road surfacing techniques. Admitted to the
Stock Exchange in 1936.
A 1953 certificate is also
available in the name of Mrs Jeanie Evelyn Robson.
Certificate size is
27
cm high x 31 cm wide (11" x 13"). It will be mounted in a
mahogany frame, with gold inlay, size 35 cm high x 45 cm wide.
The certificate is shown unframed
