The Roebuck

The Roebuck was situated at 2 Hockcliffe Street. This was a former Kingsbury (St Albans) Brewery house, later owned by Benskin's then Ind Coope. The grade-II listed pub closed in 2013 and is now a restaurant called Oliver Hare.
 
Listed building details:
Early C18. Flemish bond with red stretchers, grey headers. Steeply pitched old tiled gabled roof with cornice, hipped casement dormer, 2 storeys and attics, first floor band. 4 windows to north elevation, 2 sashes and 1 wood transom and mullion casement, all with glazing bars, and 1 dummy. Altered ground floor formerly had door surround of fluted Doric pilasters, entablature with pulvinated frieze. West elevation has ground floor bay window, 2 first floor sash windows in wide flush frames tinder segmental arches, attic 2 light casement window in gable end.
