The Crown Inn was situated at 19 High Street. This grade-II listed pub closed in 1873 and is now in commercial use.
Listed building details:
2 houses. C16 with C19 alterations. Substantial timber framed construction with colourwashed roughcast render. Steeply pitched concrete tile roof. 3- room plan in total, 2 storeys. First floor originally jettied, but has been underbuilt in brick. Other parts of frame also rebuilt in brick. First floor has one C19 3-light and 2 C20 4-light casement windows. To ground floor No. 19 has 2 small shop windows flanking central part-glazed door with gabled bracketed hood. No. 21 has canted double-fronted C19 shop window, with part-glazed door recessed to centre. Interior: No. 19 retains some early
panelling to first floor, No. 21 retains some moulded ceiling beams.
