The Wells was situated on London Road. This pub
closed and reopened several times in the 1980s and 1990s. Now in use as The
Mikado restaurant. |

This venue is currently closed. It
appears to have had at least two incarnations since it was The Mikado: as
Zia Maria (c2018) and The Fizz Bar at the time of its most recent closure
(c2020). |

The Wells Ascot used to be run by my
Aunt Pauline & husband Ron who employed me on my first college summer of
1982 during which time I served many local luminaries such as ex-Olympic
swimmer David Wilkie & then during race week the Gucci brothers & their
entourage who insisted on being served in the saloon bar as they saw
themselves as working men - fabuloso! |

When aged 22 I Lived in Wells Lodge on the other side of the road to
this pub, with three friends. More time spent in this pub and garden
than in the lodge. Ron and Pauline Salmon great hosts. |
