From The Good Pub Guide 1983: |
Though not far from the bustle of
the popular Thames-side villages, this country pub has a relaxed and local
atmosphere in the comfortable carpeted lounge, with leather seats under its
beams and a collection of helmets, potties and other knick-knacks on the
wall. Wethered handpumped bitter. There is a pool table in the public bar.
In summer there are tables on the well-kept lawn, with fruit trees and roses
behind a low wall. You could wander up to the lime-shaded benches on the
village green and look across the cricket pitch to a lovely view over the
wooded Thames-side hills. Paths wind from the pub into the
countryside. |
