My
grandma’s uncle, (George) Walter Kay, had worked as a coachman for Lord
Addington and Sir Cecil Butler, among others. After cars became more
prevalent, it’s my understanding he purchased The Crown. (At one point, his
father and grandfather had each owned/ran inns.) So, Uncle Walter sent these
photos to his niece (Grandma), who was living in USA. It has now been
converted to a private residence. |

Was very disappointed when it changed names to the
Tamarind Tree (not a lover of Indian food) as they'd did some really nice
meals back in the 80's and 90's |

My parents used to meet up here as my mum lived in the
village. I was a customer.
I remember my grand parents, parents and other relatives always met here
and as a child we all played hide and seek in the huge gardens outside,
I have very fond memories of this Pub. |
