The Cricketers was situated on The Marsh (now Park Way).

My mother was based near Newbury at the end of the war. She was WAAF, radar operator. Her husband to be (RAF, navigator, Coastal Command) ....and my father of course! .....was based at The Cricketers. She tells me that he used to fetch the water from the pump in the garden for them every day, and served behind the bar too. He loved it! She would cycle through the cornfields to meet him there.
