This pub closed in the 2000s and has now been
demolished and replaced by flats. |

A housing association bought the property. There
was a sustained local campaign to save it, not least because it was a
handsome Victorian building, surrounded by quite extensive gardens (with
mature trees) in a very densely populated area. The Council made no effort
to accommodate local feeling. It was one of three pubs to be closed and
demolished in the immediate area in quick succession (the others being
The Dove and
The Plasters' Arms). |
