My parents owned this pub in the late 50's early 60's. When we moved in, my folks wanted to make some extra space and add a snack bar which they eventually did, but during the renovations, uncovered an old 'wattle and daub' wall which Reading University showed much interest in and took a huge chunk to study for dates etc., it was also discovered that the beams of the old pub came from the ships of the Spanish Armada.
