The Prancing Horse was situated at 49 Chapel Street and is
now in residential use. This grade-II listed
pub was previously known as The New Inn. |
|
This pub dates to the sixteenth century. In 1875 farm labourers used it for
a meeting place to complain about wages and in 1881 Thatcham Cricket Club
has its first general meeting here. In 1968 it was renamed the Prancing
Horse. By 1997 the pub was empty and by 1999 houses had been built in the
car park. |
