The Fox Inn was situated at Church End, Tilehurst. Built in 1739 as an extension to an existing and much older Fox Farm. The extension incorporated the end front ground floor and first floor rooms. It was built as a small country coaching inn to serve the cross country traffic leaving the Bath Road to the west of Reading to carry on north east across the downs.
