The Walnut Tree was situated on Roundhouse Lane. This pub closed in 2004.

Plans have been submitted to demolish the 1950s building and build a new pub on the site.

It is the food that makes reader fond of this family-run Chilterns pub: an excellent choice in the bars, including a variety of pates (£1.50 to £1.75), fried Camembert with gooseberry relish (£2.10), baked avocado and prawn Moray (£2.25), calamares (£2.25), filled pancakes (£2.25), half-pound hamburgers (£3.95), salami and home-baked ham salad (£4.25), grilled sea trout (£5.25), steaks (£5.95) and a good selection of puddings. On any one day the daily specials might include chilled summer soup (80p), seafood Mornay (£2.25), French smoked chicken salad (£3.50), quail casserole (£3.50), lemon sole or lamb cutlets (£3.95) and three-in-a-bed croutes provencale (£5.95). There is also a separate restaurant with even more ambitious food, but one of the nicest things about this place is the easy-going and friendly bar service and atmosphere. It definitely is a pub and hasn't been diluted into a semi-restaurant - so nearly four dozen members of the Chiltern Society's Walking Group tramping in hungrily were made to feel quite at home. The carpeted bars are plainly furnished with cushioned banquettes and benches around trestly tables; well-kept Brakspears Pale, Mild, Special and  Old on handpump; darts, dominoes, cards, fruit machine and juke box. The big lawn around the gravel car park in front of this plain brick pub has well-spaced tables made of elm trunks, and there are more tables on a front concrete terrace.
