The Admiral Hood was situated on St John Street. |
Its
1827 valuation shows it as a freehold public house, occupied by Thomas
Allbright, with a small woodbarn, piggery and granary over, a yard
containing stabling for 20 horses with a small cottage garden etc. in the
occupation of Levy, coachmaster. Part of the premises are leasehold for a
term of 40 years from 1810 at a rental of £10 p.a.
Publican in 1827 was Thomas Allbright. |

This pub was nicknamed The Potato Pit, because
you went down steps into the bar.
It was demolished for the widening of St John Street in the 1950s/60s |
