The Saracens Head was situated at 17
Station Road. The pub was originally two cottages built c.1834 by William
Walker of Longwick and converted into a Public House c.1865 with the arrival
of the railway. It ceased to trade in 1938, being deemed unnecessary because
of the long-established and larger Bird in Hand pub on the same road (still
active). The Saracen's Head is now a residential property, with the extant
pub sign bracket a clue to its past life. |
