The Crown

The Crown was situated on Main Street. This pub closed in 2013.

I moved to Tingewick from London in the late '90s. The Crown with Mick & Rita was the center point. Fundraising with daft ideas, piano smashing (women verses men), Conker night(darts at conkers, pool played with conkers)Tander night, traditional celebration with tander cake & mulled wine, fireworks for the kids. It pulled all sorts into the community. I was part of 'compost corner' with Neddy Horwood & Ken Amos. There were characters and we had such fun.

Bill Stevens 1965/1966 I spent Christmas of 1965 and more than half of 1966 living with the Dunphys at 12 Buckingham Street. I enjoyed a lot of good times in the Crown. The Dennes were in charge then, and a lot of wonderful characters were regulars.
