This pub was demolished around mid 1970s, to make way for road widening. Publican in
1973 was Claude Gates. |

We used to go in most lunchtimes, all working as apprentices etc. at the
nearby Pye factory, which was all eventually taken over by Phillips. We
used play darts have a sandwich and a beer. Remember Claude the
landlord. I'm now coming up for 82 at the end of 2024. |
