Sun Inn |

The Sun Inn was situated on Trinity
Street. |

This pub is in the lyrics of
Jonathan Kings song 'Everyones Gone to The Moon". When he sings "Every ones
gone to the Sun', it's this pub near Trinity College where he was an under
graduate. I know this as he lodged as a student in the 60's in Portugal
Place Cambridge ran by one of my relations. |

The Sun Inn in Cambridge was used as a staging
point for change of horses on the London to Wisbeach Royal Mail coach route.
The innkeeper in 1797 was Robert Whitechurch who also contracted to supply
the horses and have the coach driven between Royston and Cambridge. The
route was operated between 1793 and at least 1807. |
