The Wheatsheaf

The Wheatsheaf was situated on Castle Hill. This pub was demolished in 1970.

I used The Wheatsheaf in 1966. It was situated nearly opposite Histon Road on Castle Street / Huntingdon Road. If you were driving there was an arch under the pub you could drive under to the car park at the rear of the pub.

I drank in this pub on the night it closed. It was demolished to build a De Vere Hotel on the site but that never happened and a huge hole remained in the ground there for a number of years until offices were built (subsequently demolished and student accommodation erected in its place).
