Situated on Church Street the  Duke Of Wellington closed in 1957 and was converted to a private dwelling in 1959. This was a 19th century pub which was built on the site of an earlier 18th century pub, The Chequer. This in turn had been built on the site of a pub called The Rose which burnt down around 1699.  This was a grade-II listed pub.
