The Talbot

The Talbot was situated on Oxford Road. This pub has now been demolished.

This is the name of a pub which used to be in Macclesfield when I was a kid, around late 70’s early 80’s.It was at the top end of oxford road, and near the top end of chester road. My dad used to drink in there and was mates with my ‘uncle’ Tony – who wasn’t my uncle at all, but the landlord, I think. It was the first pub I ever went in, and I think it was demolished in the early / mid 80s to make way for a roundabout, and an extension of the local hospital. There was a landlady, called Sheila I think, and they had two daughters, who were older than me, and I think one of them was called Pauline. They used to have bonfire nights in the back yard.

Mike late 1970s Great sleezy, friendly pub. We used to meet up on Harley's on a friday night. It was great(they were pretty rare to see then,i was lucky to own one). I always remember Cfax on the tv,that seemed unusual .Landlord was Mick,he went on with an offy & van hire called MMM which i think meant micks mini mart. Happy days.
