My grandfather, Austin Sill-Perrin was the publican from
my birth in 1946 until his death in 1957. I lived in the pub for a year
from 1957 to 1958. My parents, Harold Northrup and Beryl Perrin
Northrup, operated it for about a year after my grandfather’s death. My
father was the licensed publican at the Grosvenor Hotel in Stalybridge
from 1949 to 1954. I well remember helpin my grandmother tend bar for
parties in the upstairs function room. |
