Mermaid Inn

The Mermaid Inn
was situated on Cliff Road by Gyllyngvase beach. This pub was, at one time,
Devenish Breweries biggest money earner. It was housed in a leased building
owned by a local couple. The freehold of the building was sold to a local
hotel owner in 1984 and shortly afterwards Devenish pulled out of the lease.
The pub finally closed on November 4th 1988. On the last night over 800
people turned up and to this day is fondly remembered by people as one of
the best pubs in Falmouth. The building has now been converted into
apartments for the hotel next door. |
