The Griffin was situated on Main Street. Plans, submitted to Copeland Borough Council, seek approval to knock down this pub to make way for the extension of the neighbouring Spar store, which is also a Post Office. M&L Richardson & Sons Ltd are hoping to expand the petrol station that is next door and make a car park.
