The Nags Head was also known as the
Horse’s Head, and then The Wayside Inn. It was opposite the church and after
it closed in 1930 it became accommodation for reservoir workers until it was
demolished in 1966. |

The Romantic poet, John Keats, stayed there in
June 1818. I came across this information through a letter he wrote to his
brother, George Keats, on 27th June, whilst staying at the pub. |
