The Angel was situated on Castle Street. This pub opened in 1826 and closed in 2004.  It is now used as an antiques shop.

Former British & Empire Heavyweight Boxer Bruce Woodcock was its Licensee from 1952. Bruce ran the Boxing gym adjacent that went on to become The Sportsdrome Club. Bruce went on to manage Local boxer Peter Bates, who himself went on to run The Red Lion on Vicar Lane in Chesterfield. Bruce moved back to his home area of Doncaster and ran the Tumbler pub in Edlington.
