Canal Tavern

Canal Tavern, Brimington

The Canal Tavern was situated by the side of the Chesterfield Canal on Frog Row, closing in 1963.

I have been doing my family tree on my fathers side, the Jacques family. I went into the 1911 census and it seems that my great grandad Elisha Jacques was the inn keeper at the Canal Tavern at this time with his wife Mary. Their children were living with them as well - four daughters and three sons. Edgar Jacques was my grandfather and he was 21 at the time, working as a general labourer.
