The Garibaldi was situated on Albert
Street. |
|
The Garibaldi was built by my 3 times great
grandad, Thomas Turner Snr in 1864. The land was bought in 1857 for £83/10s
(£83.50). e His son Thomas Turner, Jnr, took over the licence in 1883, after
the death of his mother, Esther. Thomas ran the business with his wife
Elizabeth. Thomas Jnr died in 1875
Elizabeth had taken over the licence, after the death of Thomas . When
Elizabeth died, it was left to his son George, who had lived in the house
next door, but his wife Mary, didn't want to live in a pub, so it was sold
in 1899 to Brampton Brewery.
The pub was originally run as a beerhouse but a full licence was granted in
1951, the pub closed in 1964 but was pulled down soon after that. |
