The Boot was situated on Church
Street. This pub was present by 1833 when the publican was Thomas Cooper.
The Boot Inn licence was transferred to new premises built further down
Church Street in 1895. It has now been converted to a care home. |

My mother, Erica (Barbara) Burton / Nicholson was the tenant along with
Roger Barker. I lived at The Boot Inn for about 18 months with my sister
and baby brother and attended St George’s school. I just visited there
today with my 20 year old daughter (I’m now 55). We now live in Sydney
