John Goodall took over this pub in April 1889 after signing as centre
forward for Derby County. Goodall was the top scorer in the first ever
season of the Football League while playing for ‘The Invincibles’ of Preston
North End. He spent the best part of his career at Derby with his brother
Archie. |
