The Stork Inn was situated at 54
Macklin Street.
This pub was present by 1855 when the publican was John Bryan. Three
generations, and four individuals, of the same family ran the Stork for at
least 70 years:
Henry Ellis was there by at least 1871. Then his niece Lily and her husband
Alfred Wildgoose from at least 1901 but possibly from when Henry died in
1898, then Harry Ellis, Lily's brother, from at least 1911and then Maude,
Lily's daughter, and her husband from at least 1939. Closure unsure, but
probably lost as part of the 1960s clearances/redevelopment. |
