Ye Olde Bulls Head

Ye Olde Bulls Head was supposedly one of England's oldest pubs when it closed in 2005. It was situated just of the B6049.

My Grand-father (Mr. Frederick Bilzon and his wife Ada Ann Bilzon) owned this pub from 1946 – 1954. My grand-dad bought in from Mary Ann Hoyle in 1946 and sold it to Rosalind Mary Tyler in 1954.
I am so very saddened to see this once thriving and beautiful pub in such a state of disrepair and abandonment.
My mum and her twin-sister (Marjory Mary) loved living in this Old pub when they were young girls (aged 10 years).
I will be visiting my Mums (now deceased) old home when I visit in August, and was so looking forward to showing my own 2 young teenage children where there ‘Grandy’ once lived.
How very, very sad.

Now reopened as The Blind Bull.

Al Heyes 1970s/80s A crowd of us regularly camped in the area and on a number of occasions drank the pub dry! I remember Bernard and his wife Myra, Geoff and his wife Iris as publicans there. They used to hide us away up in "The Cave" behind the bar so we didn't upset the other customers! Very happy days!!
