The Horse & Jockey was situated on Cromford Road. This pub is now used as a fish restaurant.

This was a typical Home Brewery estate pub and in the early 1980s, I believe the landlord was named Joe Redfearn. Walking through the front door, I think the lounge was on the right and the bar to the left. There was also a little off sales hatch where you rang a bell and the landlord would slide back the glass shutter. I often used to purchase 'proper' Mars Bars and the occasional box of Pioneer matches - those blue-headed ones (3p a box!) - they were like mini flares!
