The Rose & Crown was situated at Lower Somercotes. Present by 1857 when Edward Andrews was publican. The inn/tavern is mentioned in the Whites Directory of 1857 and was the second pub/tavern in Lower Somercotes, along with the Black Horse. The Rose & Crown is believed to be one of the first inns in Lower Somercotes and may well date back to the 17th Century (needs to be verified). The inn-keeper of the Rose & Crown in 1857 was Edward Andrews (a bricklayer). The pub closed around 1910-11 and was situated near the end of Norman Road. The pub was used by travellers and there were four extensions to the building so that additional accommodation for those seeking a room could stay. The building is now separated into two houses.
