The Grouse Inn was situated on The Dale. Originally the Boot & Shoe, it was present by 1831 when William Wild was the publican. After his death by his son, also William took over. William jnr. was declared bankrupt in 1846 and by 1849 the pub had been renamed as the Grouse and was in the occupation of Robert Cocker. It closed in the early 1960s.
