London Inn

The London Inn was situated on Foss Street. Foss Street was a
bridging embankment (1230) over an inlet on the River Dart, land being
reclaimed from 1670 and 1828 on the river side and a pond called Mill Pond
on the land side in 1828. This pub was one of the early ones in Dartmouth
and important as the name suggests. It certainly predates Trade Directories
and continues until the final entry in 1890. It either was placed beside the
new Foss Chapel (1895) or on that site.
