The Globe

The Globe, Honiton

The Globe was on the corner of the High Street and Dowell Street. The original inn on this site had several different names including The Carpenters Arms, The Compass and The Bakers Arms. It became The Globe when it was rebuilt after a fire in the 1850s - it was open until 1971. After closure it became a private house then it was The Globe Antique Centre, then it became a meeting hall for a religious sect and then, finally, a casino. As at April 2011 it is empty and to let.
