Exeter Inn

The Exeter Inn was situated on the High Street.  It was originally owned by the church and used as a chantry house; later it became an inn and the church decided it was not right to own a pub so they sold it. At the beginning of the 20th century it was ran by Bill Welshman who came from a well known local family. In 1985 a spark from the fire ignited the thatched roof and the building was severely damaged; much repair was needed to restore it. The Exeter Inn closed in 2010 and is now a private house.
