The Bear Inn was situated in Devonport. This pub closed in 1998 after catching fire one night.

The Bear was much used by RN officers. It had once been part of a terrace, but the other buildings in the street were destroyed during a WW2 air raid. The Bear was propped up by sloping timber beams. It looked weird.
