A Plymouth publican, John Camp,
landlord of The Castle Inn, Union Street, was charged before the magistrates
yesterday with allowing his house to be the habitual resort of prostitutes.
The case was proved by Sergeant H. Hill who stated that on Monday evening he
visited the house, and in a room known as the concert room he found twenty
four men and ten prostitutes. An hour later there were twenty two men mostly
the same as on the previous occasion, and ten prostitutes, six of them among
those there at the first visit. - Mr Briar, who appeared for the defendant,
admitted the offence. - The Bench said they were determined to put down such
houses and fined the defendant £3 and costs, and ordered the licence to be
endorsed.
