Bidgood Arms

The Bidgood Arms was situated on London Road. This pub is now used as a Chinese restaurant.
Used to go there camping in the field adjoining the pub in the 1970’s with mine and my cousins family every year. Roy Jones was the landlord and we used to play with his girls…Elise and Emma…Great memories of childhood.

I spent my first four years of life in one of the caravans that were situated on the field to the side of the pub. Roy Davies was the landlord in the late fifties/early sixties when we lived there. There was a skittle alley, a bar and lounge, it was the local for the village of Rockbeare itself. There was a garden are to the other side of the pub. On a Thursday evening “Johnny Rose” a travelling fish and chip shop visited and many villagers walked up from the village to eat and drink.
