The Quay
Inn was situated on Old Quay Street. This pub closed c1980 and was
subsequently demolished to allow expansion of the dockyard. The above
warehouse was built on a triangular plot of land that once contained the
pub. A simple building, probably was once two workers cottages. Also known
as The Old Quay, it was owned by Plymouth Breweries and also sold groceries
to the crews of ships in the docks. |

The publican was my uncle, Walter Dodd, as a child we
were regular visitors to Teignmouth being my fathers home town. My
grandfather worked at the Morgan Giles shipyard and my uncle Melvyn ran
the Ship Inn, with another uncle running the Lifeboat Inn. |
