My family were stone masons and my great grandfather, John Sanders, who lived at 15 Castle Street said that the lamb sculpture was made by the family. They also restored the front of Ford's Town house in Fore St. when it became the headquarters for Starkey, Knight & Ford. The collapse of this building was a tragic loss. The family also built the stone base for the cannon in the park, now also gone. I cut my head open on the edge of it as a boy (about 1950) while jumping the nearby flower beds - and still have the scar.
