White Hart

White Hart, Dorchester

The White Hart was situated on High Street East and closed in the early 2000's.

In the mid 1980s several musicians played for 18 months most monday nights - mainly traditional English, Irish and Scottish tunes and songs. The core people playing were all involved in Dorchester based folk bands and were joined by varying numbers of listeners, players and singers. Instruments featured were guitars, whistles, recorders, bodhran, mandolin and fiddles, sometimes accordions. One year an upstairs room was used to record Christmas songs for an animatronics presentation at the then Galton (now Wyevale) Garden Centre in Owermoigne. The sessions finished as increasingly the musicians found they were involved in other things and numbers failed to continue to grow.
