The Royal Oak was situated at 1 Fore
Street. This grade-II listed pub is
now in residential use. The building appears to be of nineteenth-century
date, but may have an earlier core, possibly of late eighteenth-century
date. |

Former Public House, now attached
house. Early C19, with possibly earlier core. Stone walls, roughcast. Brown
concrete tile roof, with gable end at left hand. Renewed C20 brick stack at
left hand gables. Two storeys. 5 windows, 2- and 3-light wood casements to
ground floor. Original segmental bow window immediately right of front door,
with a dentil cornice. First floor has 2-light iron casements with lead
lights, C19. Front door, left of centre, flush-panelled with 2 top lights,
C19 with small bracketed wood canopy over. Front door, left of centre,
flush-panelled with 2 top lights, C19. Plank door at right hand end, with
leaded-light window in beside. |
