The Greyhound was situated at 6 Cheap Street. This
pub closed in 1997. A grade-II listed building with a
very much restored or largely re-built front in early 17th century style and
has now been converted to up-market residential accommodation. |

House that must have closed before 1997. No.6 adjoins No.4 and is part of
the same building. A very much restored or largely re-built front in early
17th century style. There is a listing for a Greyhound Inn in Sherborne that
was put up for auction in 1860, the sale to be held at the Angel Inn that
became the Sherborne School's house 'The Green' in 1865. Directories
include, 1851-1855 Thomas Watkins, 1859 Eli Roberts presumably who sold it
in 1860, 1875 Enos Dennis, 1889-1895 George Wride and 1911-1915 Edward Chant
(& chimney sweeper). |

Adjoining No 4 and part of the same property. A very much restored or
largely re-built front of 2-storeys 4 window bays in early C17 style. Stone
front with two small gables and one 1st floor oriel to right hand. Stone
mullioned windows, some with dripmoulds. Segmental headed gateway at left
hand end segmental headed doorway at right hand end. The coursed rubble
masonry is the only part of the front which is indubitably old but there are
traces at the back of the original structure. Panelling of late C16 to C17
style internally. |
