The Swan was situated on Cheap Street. This pub
is now used as The Arch, a cafe/bistro. |
|
This is a late 18th century coaching
inn with extensive space for stables and a coach house in what is now “The
Swan Yard” . The mixture of beauty salons, coffee shops and retail outlets
in the yard are sympathetic conversions of a 'new' complex of stable blocks,
loose box, brew house and coach house which were added to the inn in 1861.
It closed as a pub in 2015.
The Swan in recent years became the home of Vida Comida, a tapas bar, but
after a short period in this guise, it closed in August 2018 and it has now
been completely converted into retail outlets. |

I was born here in 1946. My grandparents, uncle, mum and
dad were successive tenants of Hall and Woodhouse, Blandford. |
