The Three Lions was situated on Victoria Road.
This grade-II listed pub was known as The Pudding and Pye at time of closure. |

building details: |
Late C18-early C19. Rendered walls,
tiled roof. Two storeys and attics. Ground floor of the Three Lions Inn has
double entrance doors (one now blocked) under a flat stone moulded canopy on
shaped brackets. Three sculptured lions on the canopy - possibly of Coade
Stone. Elevation to West Street has, on the ground floor, 2 double hung sash
windows with glazing bats and raised plaster surrounds. First floor has 2
similar windows. No 23a has a central door, similar to that in the Inn, with
a 6 panel flush panel door. Right of the door, a window has been altered to
form a second doorway, now blocked. Left of the door is a double hung sash
window, similar to those in the Inn, but without glazing bars. First floor
has 2 similar windows, without glazing bars. Facade to No 23a has raised
plaster quoins at each end. Attic has 4 dormers with hipped roofs and
casements with glazing bars. West elevation - facing Victoria Road has a
doorway with pedimented hood on console brackets. Ground floor has 3 double
hung sash windows with raised plastered surrounds and glazing bars, and a
second, blocked, doorway. First floor has 3 windows similar to those on
ground floor. Two storeyed extension at rear, with brick walls and tiled
roof. |
