The Sutton Arms was situated on Darlington Road. This pub opened in 1898 and closed on 23rd September 2020. Having been denied permission by Stockton Council in November 2020 to demolish the building and build a new home, the design of which the council said was not in keeping with the character of the village, despite the planning decision, developers have still demolished part of the building, and in January 2022 have applied retrospectively for planning permission for conversion to a 5-bed home.
