The Criterion was situated at 2a Ocean Road. Dating back to the 1890s this corner pub was closed in 2012 and turned into a Ladbrokes bookmakers. However, in 2018 the first floor of the building was given a £200,000 refurbishment to reflect how it looked in the past. There is an impressive back bar with large mirrors, two real fires, sofa seating and an original clock above the bar dating from 1895.
