The Engine Room was situated on South Street and
is now used as an Indian restaurant. It was previously known as
The Railway Tavern. |
|
This pub was known as `The Sun’ in the 1960s &
1970s, and was very popular with the Irish drinkers, the Irish as a
community having arrived in large numbers in the 1950s due the labour
shortage, and the need of Courtualds, Crittalls, Lake and Elliot for
workers. |
